A Garden enclosed, sealed… A Secret Place within the hearts belonging to Yahweh God our Father thru our precious Messiah Yeshua, the Christ and Ruach ha’Kodesh, the Holy Spirit. A Beautiful Place, Hidden in Communion and Fellowship with our Beloved Messiah, to Gaze into His Beauty and be Lifted in the Fragrance of His Love. Too often, we tend to think that if we are not spending large chunks of quiet time alone with God in Bible study and/or prayer that we are somehow therefore a disappointment to Him. Our (as we see them) “small efforts” to do these things leave us with a vague feeling that they somehow don’t count or even aren’t noticed, but this passage out of Song of Songs clearly indicates differently. He says, “You have captivated My heart with one glance of your eyes, with one sparkle of your necklace. (Song of Solomon 4:9)”.

What makes a jewel sparkle? It’s light reflecting and refracting off of and out of the gem, but this only happens when there is movement – either of the light source or the jewel. Therefore, the last part of this verse which would almost seem to be a non-sequiter can be seen as a more poetic expression of the statement just previous to it, “…you have captivated My heart with one glance of your eyes, with one sparkle of your necklace”. In general, most people move their heads at least a little bit to glance in the direction of something. Likewise, to cause a jewel on a necklace to sparkle, movement of the head and, consequently, the neck is required.

One Glance

God’s heart is touched by every move we ever make in His direction, no matter how small – even if it’s only a glance. Even the most brief and fleeting flash in His direction thrills the heart of God. If a simple glance, a “quick look” captivates His heart so, imagine how He reacts to a lingering look – or even better, imagine how God feels when we truly “fix (our) eyes upon Yeshua, Jesus. (Hebrews 12:2)”.

When a couple is madly in love, it doesn’t take more than a look or a smile to set the heart racing. Though plenty of quality time is necessary to truly build a satisfyingly intimate relationship, it takes very little encouragement to evoke/wake passion and affection for the beloved in the one who is already in love. Hear the love of God for His own as Scripture says, “…as a man rejoices over his new bride, so your God will rejoice over you. (Isaiah 62:5)”, and, “The Lord your God is with you. He is a hero who saves you. He happily rejoices over you, renews you with his love, and celebrates over you with shouts of joy. (Zeph. 3:17)

Even though my Father has opened the way out of bondage, I find myself wandering there often in my thoughts and feelings… I need to let go!! How, my Lord? I open my heart and soul to You! Living Water, wash me clean… Winds of glory, blow away the invisible chains, that try and keep me bound! My palms are open wide, I’m letting go so I can Receive all that Love and Life has to offer me… completely emptied, open and free… Open my eyes so that I can see, the glory that shines inside of me! I trust with all my heart dear LORD in Your Truth and the Promise you’ve made to me. I am yours for all life in eternity! Sweet Breath of LIFE, come breathe ON me… breathe IN me and set me Free……

God’s love is very difficult to describe adequately. God’s love is unique. He is 100% committed to us whatever happens – whatever we say or do or think. Nothing we do can stop God from loving us. He loves us just as we are – weaknesses, failings, problems. He desires the very best for us in all respects. And most important of all he was willing to take on human form and live and suffer and die amongst us. God’s love is sacrificial. God’s love is unconditional. It’s unfathomable. It’s inescapable. It’s everlasting. And if you were the only person on earth that had ever been created, God’s love would still; be exactly the same.

1 John 3.1: ‘How great is the Father’s love that he has lavished upon us, that we should be called children of God.’ The original Greek there has the image of a dam bursting and inundating a valley with water. We’ve viewed huge amounts of flooding recently, water pouring through streets and homes in our communities. Convert those views in your mind to God’s love and you’re getting a teensy glimpse of what having God’s love ‘lavished’ upon us really means.
